Recruiting can be stressful at the best of times. Juggling various candidate interviews, making multiple cold calls, marketing new vacancies and building client relationships are all part of a regular day, so we thought it would be useful for you to learn how you can boost your energy levels at work to help keep up with your hectic schedule.

Below are a few suggestions of things you can incorporate into your daily routine to prevent you from feeling overwhelmed and allow you to increase your productivity.

Daily exercise
A great way to boost your energy levels when you are starting to flag is to exercise!
A trip to the gym during your lunch break, or even just a brisk walk if you have time, can make the world of difference. Any form of exercise will help get your blood flowing and increase the levels of oxygen in your brain – preventing you from feeling as burnt out. So next time you are thinking about taking the bus on your daily commute and don’t have time to visit the gym that day, consider the benefits of walking instead.

Healthy snacking
Fuelling your body with the right type of foods will help in keeping you feel full and focused whilst making you more energised. To avoid crashes in your energy levels steer clear of high fat snacks or large amounts of caffeine. Try and stick to energy boosting foods like kale, avocado, bananas or nuts and seeds, that are rich in protein making you feel fuller for longer.

Maintaining a clean work space
Aim to keep a clear desk, as a build-up of clutter can add to feelings of being overwhelmed. Try spending a few minutes at the beginning of your morning re-organising any excess papers that have accumulated from the previous day. You’ll find that it will help you clear your head and focus on more important daily tasks.

Stay hydrated
Dehydration is one of the main causes of fatigue. By keeping a bottle of water to hand you can prevent this. Also try drinking water with lemon in the mornings, as this is a great way to enhance your metabolism as well as boost your immune system.

Take a break
Incorporate regular breaks into your day to help promote good circulation and prevent eye strain. By walking/standing up for a second or two you will be able to refocus yourself when you return to the task at hand.
